About the train data
Train times and delays come from Swiss public transport timetable data. The moving dots estimate locations between stops; they are not measured train positions.
Operator-reported trip and stop updates, including delays and cancellations. The feed does not provide GPS positions.
02 · TimetableSwiss GTFS StaticScheduled stops, train numbers, station coordinates and service dates. The timetable version is matched to the realtime feed.
03 · Rail geometryARE NPVM 2023Rail network geometry used to place estimated dots near tracks, not observed train paths.
The update time above the map is when the server fetched the feed. The count covers trains whose estimated dots are inside the current map view, not every train in the selected city. Zooming or panning changes that count.
The next-stop estimate adds the reported delay to the scheduled arrival or departure. The dot advances with elapsed time between the previous and next stops, then snaps to nearby rail geometry. This does not establish which track or route the train took. Without nearby geometry, it stays at the nearer stop.
Only trains with a realtime report for their next stop appear. Operators and services without that update are omitted, so an empty map is not proof that no trains are running. Delay colours describe the next stop, not the train’s whole journey.
