{"id":2162,"date":"2015-06-12T04:57:28","date_gmt":"2015-06-12T09:27:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.danielpradilla.info\/blog\/?p=2162"},"modified":"2015-06-12T04:58:45","modified_gmt":"2015-06-12T09:28:45","slug":"the-incredible-rarity-of-falsifying-data-about-changing-your-mind","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.danielpradilla.info\/blog\/the-incredible-rarity-of-falsifying-data-about-changing-your-mind\/","title":{"rendered":"The incredible rarity of falsifying data about changing your mind"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thisamericanlife.org\/radio-archives\/episode\/555\/the-incredible-rarity-of-changing-your-mind?act=1\" target=\"_blank\">Episode 555 of This American Life<\/a> has a very cool story about a study on how a group of canvassers were able to influence people who were against gay marriage to change their mind:<\/p>\n<p><script src=\"http:\/\/audio.thisamericanlife.org\/widget\/widget.min.js\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/p>\n<div id=\"this-american-life-555\" class=\"this-american-life\" style=\"width:600px;\"><\/div>\n<p>Curious, but kinda logically, people appeared to change their mind once the canvasser, a member of the LGBT community, told their story.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, apparently the data was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thisamericanlife.org\/blog\/2015\/05\/canvassers-study-in-episode-555-has-been-retracted\" target=\"_blank\">falsified<\/a>. What&#8217;s really surprising it&#8217;s the amount of work dumped into forging the data:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Green today told me if there was no survey data, what&#8217;s incredible is that LaCour produced all sorts of conclusions and evaluations of data that didn&#8217;t exist. For instance, he had \u00e2\u20ac\u0153a finding comparing what people said at the door to canvassers to what they said on the survey,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d according to Green. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153This is the thing I want to convey somehow. There was an incredible mountain of fabrications with the most baroque and ornate ornamentation.
